All The Tita Accessories You’ll Ever Need In Life
By now, us titas have most likely had a falling out with trends, would walk into a Forever 21 store and manage to leave without actually buying anything. Well, most of the times. If this is you, too, then congratulations, you’re definitely on your way to titahood.
Now comes the best part: accessories! The advantage of us titas is already having built a wardrobe of go-to basics, classics, and everything else that would sound boring to the younger millennial today. Little do they know that these are actually foundation pieces we can dress up with accessories—and yet another reason to shop!
Okay, well not really. In an effort to still be wise and practical, I list down only the essential accessories you’ll ever need in your life, and if you don’t have these in your stash yet, then I give you permission to shop some more!
A STATEMENT NECKLACE THAT'LL MAKE PEOPLE GO CRAZY
I say this because huge necklaces can be a chore to wear, so might as well go all-out and make people lose their minds at the sight of it. Best worn with your black sweater, a plain shirt, or even up the craziness ante by wearing it with a statement top, too. If you can have both, why not, right?
You’ll need at least three in your life—a high-key one that’s a bit out of budget; a middle-key one for when you’re in the mood to make people go crazy but aren’t in the mood to make conversation with people; and a low-key one for risky situations, like when you’re in the presence of a child and it will most likely be yanked off your neck.
A HEAVY, STATEMENT EARRING TO KEEP YOU GROUNDED
I know tassel earrings have been all the rage these days, but a heavy, chandelier earring is totally a must. You need that extra weight to keep you in place, especially when you feel like floating away after a cute guy sighting (can you believe I said ‘cute guy’) or a flashing sale sign.
You can totally wear an errand day outfit and just put it on if you need extra powers. People will also be naturally extra careful around you for fear of knocking off your earring, and that’s always a good thing.
A LIGHTER, MORE LOW-KEY EARRING FOR WHEN YOUR DARN EARS NEED TO REST
Because you can never really leave the house without an earring. I mean, why even get it pierced in the first place? I know a lot of us just grew up finding out that "Oh wow my ears are pierced, like when did that happen?"—and we all have our mothers to thank for taking the initiative to get the process done while we were infants, a time when we were too busy throwing acceptable tantrums to actually notice and remember the pain.
So do her a favor and when your ears feel tired, just put on your signature pearls, a medium-sized hoop, or a dainty flower!
A HEADPIECE TO SAVE YOUR LIFE
One of Paris Hilton’s favorite 2000s trend are tiaras, because dressing up like a princess guarantees being treated like one, too. But since titas don’t go walking around with tiaras, a lightweight headpiece will do.
AN HEIRLOOM PIECE, OR ANYTHING WITH SENTIMENTAL VALUE, A DIY, OR A PRESENT
Titas live meaningful lives, and you have to show that with your choice of accessories, too. You have to be fashionably chic with a story to tell, because otherwise people would mistake you for an ice queen, they wouldn’t want to talk to you, and would instead choose to eavesdrop on your conversations and live-tweet them. Of course, you wouldn't want that.
The rose-colored ones and its cousins are so tempting to get, and you may if you have the means to do so. But for me, the dark-tinted pairs are still staples, and trust me, it will come in handy when you’re in an unlikely situation and are bound to roll your eyes a hundred times over (which you can't really do when, say, you've got rose-tinted or sunny yellow ones on!). I consider it my lifesaver at social events.
Have you got all these in your stash? Do tell me in the comments section if you think I missed out on certain key pieces. I'd love to know and shop whatever's lacking! Oops.
